Ran out of time to do the front brakes but have done the rears. One rear wheel bearing is ready to be replaced and will get done soon. The mechanic has said he can't see no reason why it shouldn't pass another test

Some small calculations have taken place today. The motability car was around£240 a month. I will next month put away £100 per month into a pot for any expense related to the car, Then deduct my insurance cost per month leaves me up by £100 every four weeks. There will be times when the car may need more than a ton spent on it but most of the time it won't. Saving of £1200 pa for car repairs and I'm certain it won't cost me that a year to keep it going.

Had to get a photo of the car in its natural habitat. A disabled bay outside a garden centre.

The trims are great. Sadly also a massive pain in the arse as they are the locking type which screws onto the wheel bolt but the key is missing!

Badly parked almost out of the space for max giffer!

In the bay but not much space on driver side if I'd parked further over. Need to be able to open door fully.

Humming now gone. Was down to rear passenger side bearing drone. £11 for a new bearing kit. Fitted by friend yesterday and all is well.

Well it's now had all belts done, water pump and the wheel bearing. Needs a few split rubber boots replacing. Dread the rear axle join but will sort it. CV joint will have to be next though.

Oh and I don't think 34-36mpg town driving is bad at all for a old motor.

What happened to this on and the newest one, chap?

I was of the understanding Proton 1 started to die, then Proton 2 ended up being worse somehow so the Citroen was purchased and then threw it's timing belt?

Correct.

I believe both Protons have been sold & unbelievably the piscasso is running again with just a new belt.

Proton 1 died on way back from picking proton 2 up. Gearbox cooler let go. I was planning to use spares car but it was worse damage than anticipated and didn't want to risk anything with it with family etc traveling in it. My friendly mechanic was busy that week so an engine or gearbox swap was out the window. Wife was very ill and I needed a vehicle I could drive anywhere in an emergency which I can't do with her avensis. I had to scrap both in to raise funds as a matter of urgency. Wife was actually rushed into hospital a day later too. Bought a cheap picasso and the cambelt skipped the other day. Strangely enough it didn't do any damage so stuck a new cam belt on it and it's fine. I really didn't want to scrap them in but it was a situation I couldn't help.

Ah, a shame, but one of those things I guess. I never thought a Picarsole would be more reliable than Malaysia's finest, mind!

I'm on my third now. Brilliant cars to be honest. Lots of space, low loading boot floor, adjustable rear seats etc. Mine has just over 100k on clock on a 52 plate and has never been welded! Also sills are solid
