bones96 Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 just had a day trip to this place and all i can say is the 007 exihibit what a pile of plastic shite best part of the day for me was the old camper van inside the main building will try to sort some pics out later
trigger Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 I went a few months back when the autojumble was on for the weekend, throughly enjoyed it. The 007 display was a bit lacking, never knew the Aston Martin from the 'Living Daylights' was made from fiberglass. The cars inside was good though, I even almost creamed myself over the 24 mile'd 2CV6,
bones96 Posted July 18, 2009 Author Posted July 18, 2009 saw the 2cv even had the plastic covers on the seats brilliant is was
pogweasel Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 I went to beaulieu a few years ago. OK, but not the overwhelming auto-jizz fest that you'd expect from the national motor museum.

OK, but not the overwhelming auto-jizz fest that you'd expect from the national motor museum. That's how i felt, If the autojumble weekend hadn't been on i think i would of been quite disappointed if i had just stayed the weekend to visit just the museum.
pogweasel Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Don't know -what- should be in it... having visited Gaydon with potentially uninterested offspring, I know they are not far off the perfect blend, interesting things (not necessarily the 'rare', well-known & documented) plus interaction is where it's at....
dollywobbler Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 Interaction is great. At Gaydon, they briefly had a rear axle all opened up. You could turn a handle pretending to be a propshaft and brake one of the wheels and see the differential doing its thing. Now, my brain still couldn't work it out, but it was more fun trying than just looking at a row of static cars.
hennabm Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 I went to Beaulieu in 87 and 88 and then again in 2006 and tbh there didn't seem to be much change in the displays at all and I think Gaydon has outgrown the beaulieu musuem.I thought it was in desperate need of expansion and revamp.
scruff Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 ^^ Just what I was going to say. We first went in around 1990, some things are still in exactly the same place. Gaydon is a must-visit IMHO, its brill.
trigger Posted July 18, 2009 Posted July 18, 2009 I've been thinking about going to the Heritage Motor Centre for a bit, Even spoke to the wife about it and looked at other things to do whist in Warwickshire, making a weekend of it and staying up there.Might looking into it again...
