Not sure about the grille treatment, certainly eye-catching.

And that's the lot for now. I love old photos, they're ace man. It's nice to see some old ex-police car at a show but there's just something about seeing them at work in old surroundings.

I heard on the grapevine the Mk1 operations centre (the pale blue one with the bubble on the roof) was up for sale recently, still in livery.

Great pics! I love old cop cars. The SD1 pictured with the blue Mk2 Transit is a single carb 2 litre. NOT GR8 4 CHASIN BICYCLES!Was on the road til last year!

Oh for the days when coppers could still just wear a smart uniform and not have to look like they were ready for a campaign in Iraq

Old police cars are fab, never seen an Ital before though!

I read that somewhere that they were only sold off by the Met a couple of years ago and were sat ready to be called into service still up to then. Ace!!

Yep,they were so bloody expensive to build they did a good 30 years in service.

I'm really into old photo's of the Brixton Riots/Miner's Strike etc. Photo's courtesy of the BBC:

Not sure what the estate is, but am quite taken by the look on the drivers face. Like me, probably bemused by the attached balloons.........

That 127 seems to have done a lot of damage...to itself and the cav. I'm assuming from the pic the cav must have been stationary......

What's the estate? Avenger?

Chevette. Here's an army one - there used to be loads of these round Beverley when I was a kid because of the army training school nearby.

I posted these pages from MOTOR once before, but they got lost in that big post purge a while back.

So hope you don't mind me posting them again....

As I'm posting stuff here that I've posted before, it's only right that I put 'fresh' Jam Sarnie pics up - Fiat related, as that is what most of my library relates to, but these Sarnies are of the Ambulance variety, from Fiatworld Dec 86.....

Some from my neck of the woods now - a true shite police fleet these days

Some of the Wiras can now be seen as taxis around Hull - they are LPG. The newer Impians are silver now and have a battenburg livery.

When I was a kid the traffic cars tended to be Mk2 Granadas and they brought one to school for us all to sit in.

Vanguards are doing this model of a Sunbeam panda this year. I'm sure I have a picture of the real one somewhere and there was one in an episode of The Professionals though it looks like a prop rather than the real thing to me:

Posted Image

Posted Image

I took my Brava in for an MOT at the garage in Brigg that has the service contract for the Brigg cop shops Protons. Two Impians in there, one fully jammed up , the other in 'unmarked' grey......The policeman's lot

Posted

O/T But i was in Brigg the other week Vin, That's where i brought my BMW 1602 from, 180 miles home it took!.

Anyway, Carry on!

LOL at the Proton 'non-emergency' decals...."Hello? Police? Yeah there's a guy reckons he's going to smash my car window in about an hour, do you wanna set off now? It might take you a while...."

Posted

What's the estate? Avenger?

Chevette.
Chevette crossed my mind but for some reason it was dismissed as I thought the B & C pillars seemed too thin.
