Maybe a thing, may not be, but no harm in asking. Now with pic.

My ol’ folks have a neighbour in Peterborough (PE3), nice chap, bit of a recluse since repatriating from Middle East, and who has a habit of buying cars, then not bothering with them after a while and letting them rot on the drive. Rumour has it, he leaves them on the drive to stop kids running across his garden, but actually I recognize a certain ‘can’t be arsed’ attitude to life - one I aspire to eventually.

When he first moved in back in early 80’s, he had a lovely Cavalier coupe in that faded yellow colour that turned to Pog yellow a few years after he couldn’t be arsed with it any more. It was joined by a mk1 Spitfire which ended up the same way. Eventually a partner arrived on the scene and the two were swept up onto a low loader and fragged.

Now there is a Volvo 940 estate (P reg) rotting away which an 02 plate Clio next to it. Hasn’t moved for years. One of you clever chaps will run an MOT check with the reg (pic coming) to see when it last moved, but I am guessing at least 8 years.

There is a possibility that it will be disposed of in the coming weeks. I mentioned that there is a strange collection of people scattered around the country that, if the price was a case of beer and a hassle free disposal was required, an MOT would be booked somewhere between dunfermline and fife, some mega bus tickets purchased, a number of people would arrive with a Jerry can, a battery booster, a socket set and a collective attitude of blind positivity; tinkerage would occur, Lorne sausage ‘pieces’ would be shared, and the old crate would chug away in a cloud of smoke and a new lease of life afforded to a decent old motor. Then a raffle.

I just mentioned the concept, not an actual offer, but might this be a possibility? Now with pic.

I bought a dog then realised kids were a lesser evil and don't (often) poo in the garden.

Then I got married, now I have both a dog and children, curses.

Just did a reg check and no details held for MOT and tax due 01/10/2001.

It has been sat a while then!

If it is beyond repair I would be interested in various parts off it. It is dark purple isn't it? Volvo colour "Blackberry" dark grey. (Now I got the details right)

Good grief. A 940, laid up at only five years old.

If this hasn't seized completely solid in the seventeen intervening years, it'd be fantastic to see it recommissioned - though I fear a brave bit of work may be required.

Still, some excellent parts on it, for sure.

Doovla says it's grey, but then it claims that the Datsuncog Yaris is blue, when it's plainly grey...

DVLA colours are amusing, can't blame them though as they are only repeating what the original dealer who sold it new said. I have the same bike as my ex, both are blue & white, mine is blue & white on the V5, her's is white according to the V5.

Likewise, if this has a sunroof with the seal intact I would literally be prepared to walk over hot coals to procure it.

I would also quite like a spare cylinder head for 'experiments'.

Volvo grey same as my 940, 2316 petrol, registered August 96. As previously mentioned its odd it appears to have only been used for five years.

If it was closer I'd be interested in buying it for spares for mine or using mine for spares to recommission it.

Depends how much above bridge money the owner would accept and what work is needed to fix it.

These are very well protected underneath, my saloon sat on my lawn for two years without any damage to the chassis. Even had no rust on the brake pipes when I moted it a couple of years ago.

I stand in my front window sharpening my hatchet, that's stopped kids fucking around near our house for 5 years.
