1996 Peugeot 405 TDLX estate £100 South Somerset

As it’s becoming increasingly apparent I have more projects and good intentions than sense, it’s time to let go of my 405. If it wasn’t so damned pretty and so effective at pulling the girls (ahem), I’d probably have scrapped it already. But alas, I thought before I do anything foolish like break it for parts or stick it on Gumtree, I’d give fellow Autoshiters first pickings.

So, MOT expired early last month. Drives fine, could not fault it mechanically. But last years MOT has a fair few advisories, half being for corrosion, mainly around the subframe mounts at the front.

Has bags of character; (ie lacquer peel like you wouldn’t believe, it’s done 189k, the batteries dead, numerous dinks and dents, clock and tachometer don’t work...) Massive amount of history as pictured, religiously kept by the previous owner. Silly-good MPG, abundant boot and even a turbo to brag about.....what’s not to like?

No MOT, so needs transporting, and is currently SORN’ed. But otherwise, it’s a rather poor example of a fantastic load-lugging 90’s workhorse, being on the brink of somewhat cult status.

Car is near Yeovil in Somerset

Shitters price of £100, Or will px for an AX, 205 or similar small retro scoot.

That has Herr Junkmann written all over it. Not to use as a car (although....) but as insurance against a rapidly evaporating pool of 405 spares.

£150? FFS.

Damn man, that has worse lacquer peel than my old Eunos had - and that's saying something! Hope it finds a new home, a rarely seen car these days.

I’ll move this to main board for you.

Hmm, point taken Reverend

Will accept offers, price amended

Err, I think he meant it was a bit cheap - but I may be wrong (!)

I think a friend of mine will probably have this off you - just chatting with him now.

Was it in use until MOT expired last month? If so, I'm assuming from your description that with a jump start it'll drive to a pre-arranged MOT and there's nothing glaringly wrong/illegal aside from the likelihood that the corrosion and bush advisories from last year are probably going to need attention before it'll get another 12 months ticket on it?

Dunno, I’ve seen solid ones with an MOT go for £3500

Sickboy has stated this is sold now, and asked for thread to be stopped.
