Flag Rust Converter

Seen 250ml of this stuff in Tool station for just over a fiver. Converts the surface to a hard black surface ready to paint. Anyone had any experience of this stuff or am I better sticking with Kurust?

Yea I used it. Can't say what the result is too soon to say. Nice and gloopy and covered well. Cheap and easy to buy from my local TS. I also used it to cover scratches on the matt-black window surrounds of my Citroen. So...cheap and cheerful but long term not sure.

None of the converters are great long term, better to use something like detox C gel and actually get rid of the rust if you can.

I got some McKlords or something off eBay. Works pretty well, quite watery though. I've yet to use it as a paint on, I just pour it in a tub and use it as a dip.

Derusts and primes.

I have always used Jenolite. Nothing actually removes rust as good as physically removing the rust, but there will always be some left in pits etc. Usualy brush this stuff in when i have cleaned as much rust off as i can. Its phosphoric acid basically, so it etches the metal, stabilizes the rust wich may be left & gives it a phosphate coating apparently.

Citric acid is good for removing rust too. Never got on with the kurust and the bilt hamer equivalent though.
