STUNO Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 I was driving the bus cameraless the other day, and suddenly realised I was following an HA Viva utility Thought along the lines of "must be new in town as I would have noticed it before" and "that looks well done, don't think that Vauxhall ever made one"Went to the hardware store yesterday , parked the car and looked to my left, next to me was an HA viva utility NO BLOODY CAMERA I'm going to try and find it tomorrow, it's a small town. But of course I will have my camera, so what's the betting it is well hidden !
Father Ted Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Was it grey or red?I had a grey one briefly that belonged to my dad ( he installed the windows) ERN 393E, a red one I have seen at a few motor shows and was run by Luton airport for many years - cant say I have seen any others though. Both were home cooked varieties though and not the Beagle variant. Dads only had a single seat in the rear, the red one had a reclining bench seat so it could be used as a load lugger.
trigger Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Think he lives in Australia or New Zealand Ted so i doubt it's the same one, Not seen one myself for years.
seth Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Presumably a Pick up? so not quite the same as he above pictured beagle. Can't remember if we had pick ups.GR8 4 EMPTYING BANK OF MONEYZ!
trigger Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Think we had pick ups, Seem to remember some my dad was friends with having once back in the 80's. I found this which i guess could be based on a pick up?.
pbottomley Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Vauxhall didnt make a pickup version of the van, BUT martin Walter who did the Dormobile camper did one, not very common at all, home made ones ten a penny i guess in the day. http://www.vauxhallviva.com/?page_id=2755
STUNO Posted June 18, 2009 Author Posted June 18, 2009 Interesting Ted..it's grey ,but as Trigger says ,a bit far away. I suspect it is a cut down sloon.....we will see !
j-j Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Think we had pick ups, Seem to remember some my dad was friends with having once back in the 80's. I found this which i guess could be based on a pick up?. -Haha! that lives here in Glasgow ! it does the car park duty selling icecreams at the Transport museum! I see it occasionally on the motorway so it lives out of town but clearly it's going strong - must get my own photo of it. My Grandad had an Ex British Rail Bedford HA. He didn't have a license as such - just drove on his WW2 army license! Me and my sister used to love sitting in it in the drive. It took us to North Wales on a driving holiday. Must find photos..
Richard Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 I think that's the one that was at the Lathalmond open weekend. When my mate was 8 his grandfather used to make him drive. The logic was that the grandfather had been banned for drunk driving but my mate hadn't.
STUNO Posted July 13, 2009 Author Posted July 13, 2009 Been looking for this daily, but it seems to have vanished
