Wheels somewhat wonky, but who needs wheels when ya got wings, right?

 

I understand these weird products were a response to the sudden mania for Star Wars related toys in 1977, that (correctly) caused diecast manufacturers to quake in their boots as their profits shrank... the answer was, obviously, space cars.

Another one that belonged to my cousin; I craved this for many years as it was a normal, everyday car in a normal, everyday colour - not a racing car, a supercar, covered in stickers etc... and then one day he gave it to me, to my utter delight.

 

The fact that it was utterly shagged was not, apparently, a concern to me.

 

Still, a lick of silver paint will disguise that, eh?

I think this was part of a set, with a car transporter - the Capri IIs sold separately had a black vinyl roof and other decorations. Would quite like a nice one of these, one day...

Very likely originally supplied with rally decals, I went through a phase of de-rallifying models.

 

Still like it better like this.

A Portuguese Solido, rather than a French one - with the top rail of the windscreen busted off.

 

Possibly brought back by someone on holiday.

Another unhappy jumble sale find; I remember a local chemist knocking out Matchbox Dinky models at £2.99 a pop in the early 90s, so not surprising many got played with.

 

Missing tyres and a bumper corner but otherwise okay.

EDIT: Bumper corner FOUND in a box of other rubbish and now reunited in a seamless* Gorilla Glue repair, after probably 15 years adrift.

One of the James Bond magazine partwork collection, this is an even more battered version of a car made to look battered.

 

My dad found this in the border of a residential home once. God only knows how it got there.

 

Anyone need one for a 1/43 scrapyard?

 

Or, indeed, is for looking a Roger Moore figure to insert into another car of similar scale?

A rare jumble sale find that wasn't wrecked, I loved this fire engine. A 9v battery made the lights flash and a (seriously loud) siren wail. It was brilliant.

 

For some sort of school project, we were told to bring in an electronic toy and write about how it worked. I brought this in; there was a scuffle with some of the class dickheads, and the fire engine hit the floor, hard.

 

The on/off switch lost all tension, the lights stopped flashing, the siren became just a strangulated warble.

 

I tried it the other day, and it's still not working right.
