Astra H Leccy Window Problem

Recommended Posts

Posted

My future son in law has gone and bought an Astra H (thus bringing shame on the family). One issue is that the drivers side window goes up and down in steps, needing the switch releasing between steps. I'm guessing it's either catching on the runners and stops because it thinks some fool has their fingers trapped or it needs a reset of some kind.

Any ideas (apart from the obvious fire solution)??

It's the anti squishy fingers mechanism triggering-  Silicone spray on the rubbers, and check the rubber itself isn't kinked or twisted. Then roll the window right down holding the button for 5 secs after it goes right down, then up, holding again for 5 secs. Try this first. If it doesn'twork, the window itself may need adjusting..

Thanks a million BC, that shouldn't be beyond the lad's capabilities

Has the battery been disconnected? Might have lost the anti-jam memory as described by Barry. If so can be reset as Barry said, just don't need silicone on the rubbers.

They tend to have it on one-touch windows, which can be on Vauxhall's only on the drivers windows if they were being tight on that spec.

Cheers SiC (What does that stand for?) - For the sake of 4 squirts of WD40 I'll get him to try both

Depending what you find most interesting, its either:

  • sic:

"The Latin adverb sic ("thus"; "just as"; in full: sic erat scriptum, "thus was it written")[1] inserted after a quoted word or passage indicates that the quoted matter has been transcribed exactly as found in the source text, complete with any erroneous or archaic spelling, surprising assertion, faulty reasoning, or other matter that might otherwise be taken as an error of transcription."

I.e. he should be taken as intended.

  • SiC: Silicon Carbide

I.e. he is hard as nails.

    (I'm not at all...)

  • SiC: Simon C

I.e. It's my first name combined with my surname initial.

If not might be the cable. Vel satis had this and the cable had stretched.

Worth trying reset first
