lovejoy Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 Did I miss out on this bargain, seems very cheap to me..... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ORIGINAL-RENAULT-TWINGO-1-2-LHD-CLASSIC-FRENCH-REGISTERED-GOOD-RUNNER/372063840357?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649 hmm, tried to paste a "snip" of the actual ebay photo ad, but it's "not permitted"
stephen01 Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 From my poor understanding of the issue, it's virtually impossible to register the car on UK plates without the carte grise. This one has been for sale on and off for over 12 months I believe, not sure if same seller or different? Bear 1

lovejoy Posted September 11, 2017 Author Posted September 11, 2017 Thanks, Stuboy !! I must be SEEING DUBBEL, because there is now another early green Twingoshowing below the link I posted...... unfortunately without full length sunroof but for much the same price http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1995-Renault-Twingo-1-2-Petrol-LHD-Left-Hand-Drive-French-Registered-EXPORT/263199381143?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649 where are you, Mr.Bickle ?
Bear Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 The non-sunroof one has also been for sale for ages, and being on IoW is a PITA to view etc.Unless UK registered or only wanted for parts, it makes way more sense to just hop over to Leboncoin and get scouring.
Bear Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 Also, those both have LHD lights. You can get RHD lights but only on the facelift-pre-crystal-look style, with the beam pattern on the glass but indicators integrated. Shame, because I like the earlier style more and my car should have the later crystal-clear ones, but must sit in the middle for RHD beam pattern.
lovejoy Posted September 11, 2017 Author Posted September 11, 2017 Fair comment RichardK, but my last one got through a mot (of sorts)down here in darkest cornwall, it had black sticky triangles on the lenses, which they peeled off, looked puzzled, and then passed it...... !But the appeal of driving on French plates, on a lhd car here is appealing....we are overrun with German and Dutch plates down here, thanks toRosamund Pilcher ( not an Autoshite member ) Dick Cheeseburger and stormee 2
Bear Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 They passed it after peeling off the beam correctors? The IoW one has paperwork at least, it just looks seriously dog-eared. Presumably not too much hassle from Cornwall, either? Or at least no more hassle than anywhere from Cornwall is...
nigel bickle Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 Nigel is still around, but unable to respond personally right now. He asked me to say that a V5c without Cat Grise is possible, just harder. Lhd lights will pass a ticket suitably taped- and that can be viewed as a " permanent" repair because some lenses were never made rhd ( Seat Ronda). He asked me to say he has 2 Twiglets and isn't looking for more- unless it's an auto! Gerry. UltraWomble 1
lovejoy Posted September 11, 2017 Author Posted September 11, 2017 Cheers Gerry, and give him my best wishes from windy wet cornwall (a.k.a. The We*t Cuntree)
John F Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 Please pass on best wishes & hope of a speedy recovery from me too, Gerry! CGSB and mk2_craig 2
Bear Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 Swift recovery! That's Twingoing the extra mile to respond from the hospital bed... stephen01 1
garethj Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 Hope Bickle is on the mend soon. When I worked at AB Automotive in the early '90s we did the ECU for the Twingo automatic. The box and mechanical bits were made by AP who made racing car brakes and we did the printed circuit board and enclosure for the ECU. I saw that green sunroof car listing just before it ended, it looked a bargain but seemed an arse ache to register so I didn't bother
lovejoy Posted September 17, 2017 Author Posted September 17, 2017 Well, Twingo-ists, THIS is still not sold, and looks good to me, only 10 hrs left, why has no-one gone for a bid, am I missing something ! apart from the incroyable 395,000 Km claimed mileage ?
