Laguna Aisin warner gearbox oil

Plan to do a gearbox oil change shortly on my Laguna V6 which use the SU1 Aisin warner box.

This takes JWS 3309 oil,so I spoke to a factors yesterday and they have supplied Trade TEC auto trans DVI oil which is Dextron 6,this appears to be an American maker and has no mention at all of 3309 on the bottle,it does say backwards compatible with previous dextron grades. In all fairness the factors have printed a list etc which does list 3309 but I,am a little unsure.

Mannol make one - SIC used it in his Laguna and it was pretty cheap on the bay so might be worth getting that

There are numerous sellers but this one here is £40 including the postage for 8 litres - I make that a fiver a litre which isn't bad going

Have had good results from Exol transmission lubes, 20 litres Exol Dexron6  £70 delivered, currently doing it's job in the Landcruiser's box.

Shows 3309 compatible on Lubetechoil's ebay listing.

If you're unsure, I'd not use it. If you want known, trusted brand quality you can either get it from a Vauxhall/Saab dealer or Mobil 1 do it too. More expensive than Mannol, but you know it's going to be exactly right.

Carplan also do 3309 reasonably priced too.

Carplan ATF-U says it's compatible. I think I paid £25 for 5ltr in my local motor factor.

I've put about 4ltrs of that in my Saab (same gearbox) after fixing the fluid leak & all appears fine. I'm sure I've read somewhere not to use dexron, but I can't remember if it was in a handbook or one of SiC's posts on here.

Dexron 3 will lead to very bad things happening. The AW55 is designed to slip and the fluids have to allow that. Dexron 3 doesn't allow it and when the AW55 starts to slip the TC with it, it causes extreme wear.
