STUNO Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 So good it will blow your socks offBut I lost my shirt on the red one...Pair for 1500 pounds. Red one is parts car
mirafioriman Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 I had one a K plate 3.0 litre V6 12 valve in the same red. Great car. Sometimes wonder why I sold it!
shite_meister Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Always fancied one of these, does the V6 sound fantastic in the 164 or did Alfa make it a bit more subtle for this car?I used to deal with a customer who had a mint one of these it was a joy.
The Reverend Bluejeans Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 They were SUCH a good car. I worked at an Alfa agent when these werre out and they were such a well built car with minimal problems. The V6 24v is to be avoided though, a lot of engine trouble related to the cambelt. The 164 2.0TS is just about unbreakable. Mine refused to break after 200'000 miles and a weekend of abuse at the Nurburgring.
mcqueenmachine Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Fantastic car the 164. I had five or six 3 litres - all 12v - and did mega miles in them. They ate clutches but didn't go in for the cambelt craziness that seems to afflict more modern Alfas (my 166 2.5 just trashed itself despite the belts being done less than a thousand miles previous). Best of the lot was a 3-litre Cloverleaf with around 220bhp through the front wheels and better handling than a car that big with so much power through the front wheels should ever be blessed with. The two-litres were even better in the handling department and used no fuel at all for a car that took all five of us in something approaching luxury and was bought for 800 quid. Great cars. I'd have another one tomorrow. How about the twin-engined 164 Procar?
Mr_Bo11ox Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 You never see 'em any more do you! I cant remember the last time I saw one.
The Reverend Bluejeans Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 I see a dark metallic green late model 164 TS Super with a really nice expensive number plate (one number three letters) and it looks the bollocks.Probably worth a grand tops and it has real class and presence. The 166 was never quite as nice somehow.
Guest Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 I would love a 164, I would drive around feeling like a king! They look absolutely stunning.
wuvvum Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 There's a LHD 164 around Norwich with "V6 Turbo" badging on the back - was there ever such a beast? If so I want one.
Volksy Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Apparently the V6 Turbo was only availiable on certain markets, and was a reduced capacity 3.0 V6 (down to 2.0l) with a turbo strapped on, would make an interesting drive I recon, although power figures seem to be slightly less than the 3.0 V6 24v, which will probably be easier to get parts for.
