Anyone fancy a nice D-reg 'new' shape Vx Carlton?

No pics of it unfortunately but I know of a very tidy light gold metallic Carlton that's available for sale in Fife, Scotland. It is a 1987 GL Manual Saloon and must be one of the first of the new Carltons I would imagine. The 'garage' seller describes it as immaculate which it does look from the cursory glance I gave it.

 

Edit: It is the 2.0 litre model.

 

It's done 44k miles from new, now has 12 months MOT and was owned & cherished by an old gent for many years then laid up for 6 years following his passing.

 

The guy realises they're worth little & any bid close to 400 quid would probably buy it. I'd have it myself, but for it not being an auto it wouldn't suit me!

I like the Omega but the Carlton/Senator era probably produced the better car. Ahhh... brings back memories of my Cavalier, best car ever.

The Carlton was a proper Voxhall, 1.8 and 2.0 8 valve Family 2 rightness and none of this Ecotech shite. Tough as old boots.If you remember the episode, the suspected bad guy ran a 1989 Vauxhall dealership. Brand new Novas, Ashtrays and Chavaliers in the showroom. Cavette would blow his beans at the sight!

Judging by the numberplate, car supplied by Vauxhall itself. They seemed to have a large number of two-digited registrations put to one side for press use, and the font is particular to VX too.

No it wasn't! City Motors were on a massive roundabout. I lived in Oxford 1988-1992 when Inspector Morose was on and could see that the Oxford Voxhall dealer wasn't in Oxford. I've no idea which dealer was used.The cars were indeed GM's own.

I love a big old Vaux.Uninteresting Mister Shit Fact 228: I once got into a Carlton Taxi only to realise that the driver had a hook for a hand, I came very close to shitting myself on the roundabouts as Captain Hook clearly couldn't turn the wheel properly, How the fuck does that happen? surely being able to turn the sodding steering wheel safely is a pre-requisite of being a taxi driver? not interesting I grant you.

Nope. All you need is a clean-ish licence and some knowledge of local roads. At no stage does anybody ask if you can drive.

It's not a course, a copper visits you and asks some questions. I've applied for a badge twice, the first time he didn't bother to come out (he knew me well enough so he just approved it) and I got the badge despite having six points. The second time I applied it was a couple of young guys who didn't know the area so they didn't ask me anything either. Nobody ever asked if I could drive.In summary-You don't have to be able to drive and you don't have to know your way around.
