C3 Picasso power steering failed

not a happy wife;  the steering has failed, fortunately only 5 milesfrom home not on the M5.

 

seems like it's a not uncommon failure and an inbuilt system fault;  electric steering with an ecu I guess

 

she is almost less impressed with having to drive a grandchild to around tomorrow in my less than pristine but bomb proof X reg CRV. I should have planned for a french car FTP and spent £'000s on a newer, smarter CRV with losts of wonderful* electonic gadgetry

yeah I have replaced several motor and control unit combos on them, as well as the wiring harness on some models as it can differ with the new parts.
