Thank you for all the comments and advice. The two batteries were well knackered, and she has ordered two new ones advised by the motor factors who

 

checked the originals. News of the day is that it`s quite easy to pedal !

I hope you pedalled it down the motor factors and got the apprentice to follow you out to the carpark with his battery tester.
