Another key question Transit Mk7

My son has just obtained a 2011, Mk 7 Transit, to replace his Mk 6 which we ran for 10 years.

We have one blue key with battery and buttons and 2 normal plain keys which look like they have never been used.

The blue key mostly works, but not always, we feel the battery may be low, but it seems soldered in?

Best case scenario would be 2 new keys so we can both use it.

Whats the best/cheapest way of doing this please?

I live Rochdale area if that helps. Thanks in advance.

Going by those 2 topics on the Transit forum, the key battery can't be changed and it's charged while in the ignition, so could be the actual battery in the van causing it, or my other guess would be worn micro switches in the Keyfob buttons, as Transits of that age have the old Tibbe type keys like older Ford cars, I'm not sure if you can with them but with older Ford cars with those keys you could code in new ones using some sort of sequence with the ignition from what I remember. Not sure if it applies to Transit remote fobs though as I said.

The remote key is indeed charged by some kind of inductive system while it's in the ignition. It might have gone a bit flat if the van has been idle for a while and should improve with use.

To unlock the back doors with the key from the driver's door you turn the key twice in the lock- unlock, back to the middle then unlock again.
