forddeliveryboy Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 The diesel V70 has locked up its air con compressor and taken out the belt, I picked up a shorter belt from ECP for models without aircon hoping I could bypass it, as has worked on other stuff, but wrong size. Can anyone lay hands on a diagram for the layout without air, or does anyone know if there was a free pulley in place of the compressor?Anyone have a compressor off one of these - it's a 1999 with the D5252.
Richard Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 I'll look it up just now, is it the 5 pot VAG engine?
Richard Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 Autodata doesn't show it without AC. I looked at the Audi version, which does come without AC, but I'm not sure if it's the same otherwise. Sorry for going all eBay on the screenshot, we've no internet today. I do have a compressor, ran when parked. Yours for postage with no warranty.
forddeliveryboy Posted February 20, 2017 Author Posted February 20, 2017 Thanks Richard and yup, it's the Audi one. I'm going to measure up the same route as in the diagram above and see if I can manage without the compressor, but may well yet take up your offer - v much appreciated. Will have a gander for what fits Audis (didn't find much in an initial search), but imagine their PS and other pulleys could be different.
forddeliveryboy Posted February 20, 2017 Author Posted February 20, 2017 Aye, thanks - all I could find were diags for what's under the bonnet with AC, Gates lists belts for non-AC but no pics.
forddeliveryboy Posted February 21, 2017 Author Posted February 21, 2017 What a ballache! Seems like the UK didn't receive V70 2.5Ds without AC, but they do exist elsewhere. Any threads I could find relating to compressor failure on these involved concerned, fastidious Volvo owners who shelved out many hundreds resurrecting everything, presumably when the cars were still worth four figures. So I measured things up and ordered a belt which would be found on Renner 19s and Rover 800s. Sorted. 6PK1420 needed, the 1415mm was a bit* tight. Richard and stuboy 2
Richard Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 Doesn't the compressor freewheel when it's not being used?
forddeliveryboy Posted February 22, 2017 Author Posted February 22, 2017 Scottish spec, obv. and bloody sensible. This is my idea of belt drive, But the Volvo is working well again, sounds like a hesitation in fuel delvery but just me backing off a little, boot had three large boxes of magaznes to slow things a bit. Flippin bulb out warn light now lit. Lacquer Peel 1
forddeliveryboy Posted February 22, 2017 Author Posted February 22, 2017 Doesn't the compressor freewheel when it's not being used? Should do, this one has is seized solid.
rantingYoof Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 The S60's air-conditioning motor makes an awful racket and I suspect the same issue is arising. I've been told if the belt-tensioner goes or siezes it can pretty much be as devastating as a cambelt going. I don't use air-conditioning any more.
