carlo Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 Great thread, really appreciate it. The 305 was a wonderful car, they really improved it in 1983 when the suspension was re-designed.. I will never forget winging a new 305 GTX in 1986 all the way through France and loving every minute of it. They steered beautifully with or without PAS, although parking could be a bit of a pain without it. The velour GTX seats were the most comfortable I have ever had the pleasure to sit in, and the ride typical of Peugeots of the period. Have owned a few GTXs since then but there's probably only one or two left now. Did buy one off ebay about eight years ago but the thing was terminally rotten. Certainly wouldn't mind an auto version, there was a black auto with GTX trim doing the rounds on ebay a while ago. Here's the '86 Peugeot demo pictured on its voyage through France 30 years ago Jim Bergerac, saucedoctor, Lacquer Peel and 5 others 8

puddlethumper Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 After owning a 305 van for the last 16 years or so I think its ace. First welding last year and that caused by water coming in down the wire in the door for the speaker and into the footwell Sills and everything underneath solid. Dents and one getting bad wheel arch. The seats are as comfy as erm something very erm comfy. No Pas so a bit heavy at parking but along with the windy windows my arms are keeping fit. Shame about the rest of me.I would be seriously pissed off if some dick on two sticks wrote it off coz I wouldn't get much from the insurance. Whats an e reg 305 van worth? £500? or am I being optimistic at that ? alcyonecorporation 1

Split_Pin Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 Welcome back. Absolute quality thread. The 'free' bits of bric-a-brac that came with the car are ace. alcyonecorporation 1
Mr_Bo11ox Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 I think you might be surprised, £500 sounds cheap to me for a usable one of those alcyonecorporation 1
puddlethumper Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 I hope I'll be surprised but I'd like to know what book price is. To the likes of us its worth more than whatever the insurance will pay. Unfortunately they have a different set of values. BorniteIdentity 1
