focus brake light shite

mrs reported brakelight not working , so i buy a bulb its  a dual filament stop /tail , then go to test it the side light works , and the brake light works , but with the side lights on and braking that bulb doesnt light at all

 

new and old bulb does the same ....is it some sort of failsafe poop so something lights up instead of nothing ?

 

how do i fix it lol

Either wrong bulb , earth fault or shitty trailer wiring

dont have a trailor and the old /new bulb does the same 

 

will take a look at the wiring

Give the tail lamp a smack, if it works it's a poor connection. The seals round the unit often perish, letting water piss in. Clean the seal up and it'll hopefully stop the problem you are having.

any ideas where the earth is for the drivers rear lamp...save me breaking all the clips

I have in the past blobbed a bit of solder on the bulb contacts. makes them a bit longer to be sure they touch the wires.

was the bulb holder after all...dealer said they sell alot of em
