I have have often looked at a Rover 75 and thought Hmm! not a bad looking car, nice interior design and If I were to buy one what would I have? a V8 would be nice but I remember the Clarkson test drive and was put off. To fit my needs an estate would be good but the boot area looks smaller than a Mk3 Mondy and the shite I have to either fetch or keep in it might not always fit.

Diesel engine 2 litre or bigger preferred as have heard the horror stories of head gaskets on petrol's  ZT's look pokey but again are they trouble? Rule of thumb is no sunroof no sale as always like a sunroof!!!

So since like most people, money is tight and my budget is shite (Should put that on a tee shirt)!!! What model is best? what are the problems to look for? and what would you recommend?? Please don't say buy the Lexus!!! ( sold now anyway)

I did see a nice estate up north but its either sold or maybe being relisted on ebygumbay and how do the Roofles work? yet to see one here

I've a feeling we discussed the 75 in a lot of detail fairly recently. Well worth signing up at the Rover 75 and MG ZT Owners Club to be honest. There's some very useful info there - as I found out AFTER buying mine.

Diesels are great, can be chipped upto 160bhp cheaply through the club. The clutch slave and master are weak links on all manuals, gearbox and subframe dropped job. Water leaks into boot common, well documented. The v6 are great, less head gasket problems, but cambelt change pricey.

Thanks for the info didn't realize you had to drop the subframe to do a clutch slave cylinder sounds painful!!! A 160BHP on diesel is pretty hot though thats better than a Mondy at a standard 115 or 130BHP.

If you know where the other link for the 75 is on here send me over. Haven't looked at club sites as yet as but a good point but not sure if I am ready to add another to my already large collection LOL!!

Have you got one? Was this what you were looking to sell the Rav for and get one?

Visited the site yesterday thanks for the link BTW, Saw how to change a slave cylinder and thought bugger!!!! then read about upgrading to freelander pipes then a few other bits and bobs. No wonder 75 owners are quiet on here!!! The most interesting thing was how many people prefer the 75 to the MG and saying it is far more refined?
