Sorted. Managed to contact Mr Womble. I am officially a duffer!

Thankfully due to interweb enabled telephonic devices small enough to fit in a modern family saloon

I was able to pick up Mr Beards message and went looking in the boot of the Almera for a wayward key... Found it, so rather than drive back I jumped on the bike as its far quicker to negotiate town with than the car.

Key handed over and all is well in the world again without Mr Beard and SWMBO being stranded in Preston any longer than totally necessary...
