What's The Odds?

After praising my Range Rover In Junkmans posts-I now have a water leak.

Don't know where it is coming from-appears from below exhaust manifold-could be HG-who knows.

This is looking up at the engine-you can see a drip (not me).

I'm going to have a further look but if no luck am going to try this first.

May be the work of the Devil.

Will report back!

Oh gawd. Not sure I'd brave Radweld myself. Not having seen other threads on here showing what havoc stuff like that can wreak inside an engine/heater.

I bet it's something harmless and trivial.

Should be investigated properly, though, like one would with any other car as well.

Even if it is OMGHGF, they aren't difficult to change.

I would only use that or Bars Leaks etc. to get me home if no recovery is available, then flush it out and fix whatever caused the leak.

Years ago I had a Skoda Favorit which suffered HGF. When I took the head off all the waterways were bunged up with old RadBodge which had gone like plasticine. Head skimmed, new gasket and reassembled, I flushed out the cooling system to remove all traces of the offending crap, which revealed a leaking radiator. If the previous owner had replaced the rad instead of bodging it then the car - which never FTP'd before or after this - probably wouldn't have blown the HG.

You fool!! I'd have used K-Seal nothing less!

No seriously you'll be ok. When folks complain about it knackering their constantly overheating car you've got to ask questions. It costs £12 and seals minor leaks etc. If your cooling systems fucked already and you've chucked half a litre of this in don't expect miracles.

Used Rad Weld many times on other cars- Capri 2.8's , Rover Sd1's etc-engines the same era as those.

Will have another look tomorrow-if I cannot see where it is leaking fro I'll chuck in the devil juice.

Update.

It was indeed a leak from the head gasket.

Popped in the Radweld and have so far done 500 leak free miles (heaters still work as well).

Will have at some time to replace the HG-but will wait until warmer weather in a few years.
