John F Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Today, my Disco came up with a new & inventive fault. The alarm LED on the dash started flickering whilst driving. Then, when I put the window down, I noticed that the alarm was chirping at random. It got worse, to the point when the LED and the alarm were on most of the time. Also, when locking the car, it does that double-chirp that happens when a door, etc. is open. Since I was on my way to the MOT I did the decent thing & just unplugged the siren (thankfully the hazard lights didn't come on with the alarm). Any Disco lickers encountered this before?
cobblers Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 I know nothing about Discos, but that sounds classic "Something's full of water" behaviour to me.I'd check the door switches as well.
John F Posted September 20, 2016 Author Posted September 20, 2016 True, it does sound like that. But I've taken the Disco deep wading on loads of occasions without problems, and it hasn't even been raining here recently. Door locks / switches are deffo worth a look though.
Skizzer Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Not had this on mine yet, so can't offer any help apart from guesses you'll already have made. The immobiliser on mine is a little eccentric, in that disarming it lights up the green warning light for the indicators on some days and a different red LED on other days. Verdict: Pazuzu lives in Disco alarm wiring. John F 1
Guest Hooli Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 All I know about Disco alarms is the dealer fit one my 200Tdi had took 10mins to remove when parked in a Welsh field, it was easier than fixing the keyfob that'd been in 4" of water on the deep side of the tent all night.
dieselnutjob Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 If you are anywhere near me I have the Landrover diagnostic gear.
