Last week I bought a citroen zx for the turbo engine to put in my FSO camper. I've noticed it has the Lucas injection pump. My engines in the FSOs have the Bosch pumps. I've heard people getting excited about the Bosch pumps and converting them from Lucas to Bosch. My questions are 1. Why is the Bosch so much better and 2. Is the Bosch pump on a non turbo the same as on a turbo engine because if it comes to it I can take the Bosch pump of the fso engine and put it on the turbo ZX engine.

The Bosch pump is preferred because it's stronger for running on veg and easier to tune.

The NA Bosch pump is much the same but the TD version has a boost compensator.

I have a feeling that this thread could turn into a FAQ type thingy, so just for clarity, this is a Lucas injection pump for the turbodiesel:

And the n/a Lucas pumps are pretty similar.

 

If someone has a n/a Bosch pump and someone else a turbo Bosch pump and could photograph them and add them here, that would be helpful - they too look similar but the td pump has more attachments.

To convert you need the lines and injectors as well as the pump

Yes that's ok because I have 2 non turbo diesel engines from FSOs with Bosch systems on but just wondered if the pumps were compatible with the turbo engine.

You need a boost compensator, I think you can add one to the NA pump.
