What is it? I going to guess Skoda Octavia or Superb. Remember ,whatever it is it could be coming up for clutch and DMF, which will piss you off if you've just spunked more on a car than ever before.

I tend to buy my cars for work at 2-3 years old and about 100,000 miles and I haven't come unstuck too often in the last 25 years. Contrary to popular belief, most company car drivers really look after their steeds, tending to get on the phone to the Fleet manager or lease company at the slightest noise or problem- they're not paying for it after all.

Nope, Mazda CX-5, and being a mate it will be sorted if I do go for it. Touch wood I have never bought a pup in nearly thirty years. I tend to go for three year old cars of unpopular type with 60,000 max on the clock. The wife's Mazda 3 cost £4K at three years with 50,000 on the clock. Much as I hate it the thing goes on and on and on and has needed nothing other than tyres and a battery in coming up five years, it will be run until it dies unless this cx5 is a bargain. I never spend more than £1500 on a car for me and usually less than a grand and equally have never bought a pup. It's all about taking time and checking a car over properly before you buy, if it takes less than an hour to check it over you aren't doing it right.

Depends what sort of runs your doing I guess. Sheffield is immensely competitive for taxis in respect there's only one major company that's took over everything so if your a private hire driver there's 2000 other cars competing for trade. From people I know I'm that game, the only way to earn decent money is to get an A6/5 series and you get better jobs, if your using some old Vectra you'll have to do some insane hours.
