hairymel Posted August 13, 2016 Author Posted August 13, 2016 What make is the winch by the way? from what i can make out it's a bushey hall of 1986 vintage, but the plate is a bit faded/worn and i only gave it a brief look!
hairymel Posted August 13, 2016 Author Posted August 13, 2016 Excellent thread and a worthy save. I do like a vehicle, too, that can hold its own shit when being worked on..... tbh its fucking useless at holding shit as when you drive around it all falls of and then it gets run over. i now have a 'liberated' bunded pallet on the back with all the more water resistant shit in I can imagine that once you have it sorted you will suddenly have loads of new friends (whereabouts are you based?) sadly i have no friends - only potential sources of income DeeJay 1
hairymel Posted August 13, 2016 Author Posted August 13, 2016 another saturday and another square foot of repairs! pictures by potato cam unfortunately although it does disguise the more agricultural nature of today's efforts moving round the arch and into the step area choppy chop template of a post/arch section difficult to see but outer arch has a cover panel riveted to it first part of outrigger outrigger done and more filling in used a sheet of paper and running my dirty finger around the edge technique to make a template for the last bit not a great deal to show for a days efforts need to buck my ideas up as i am going to run out of goodwill for parking/working purposes soon! really feeling the pain of the project today, but i am sure i can finish it off without needing a box of matches ps. jacking the door up while working helps to stop the door no shutty problem Sheefag, Junkman, dieselassist and 4 others 7
vulgalour Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 Do you know what else R is for? Radio Rental. Top work, this is a proper hairymel thread. Sheefag 1
hairymel Posted August 14, 2016 Author Posted August 14, 2016 lets hope it doesn't take 3 years and end in fiery doom! how the fcuk have you managed 11k posts Angyl? thats 2500 a year, 7 a day, one every 2 1/2 hours and i bet you are seeing other forums. you tart vulgalour 1
vulgalour Posted August 14, 2016 Posted August 14, 2016 True, I'm a forum slag. I achieve such high post count mileage by posting utter bollocks occasionally interspersed with boring old trot about terrible cars. I can most often be found uttering variances on "That's terrible! I want it." Junkman, chaseracer and hairymel 3
hairymel Posted August 24, 2016 Author Posted August 24, 2016 supposed to be on holiday this week and had set aside mon-wed to go to work and work on the transit. i went to work and had to work I called enough today though, and had a little play in the baking sunshine. i have replaced my potato with a new one after pissing about with the camera settings on my new phone i chopped out the rotten channel on the step and cut back the sill prior to removal folded a section and welded the channel back in the inner and outer sill is pretty solid apart from the top flange and the front few inches which are replaced by the outer arch repair panel, so i made a piece to fill in the top of the sill bit more weldy weldy and a huge amount of bashy bashy to make the curved infill section and bobs your uncle really on holiday now and have broken race car to fix on my return so ttfn danthecapriman, Junkman, andrew e and 2 others 5
mouseflakes Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Beautiful! Glad you fixed the camera too - the thread was beginning to look like a series of stills from John Boorman's 'Excalibur'.
xtriple Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Looks factory fresh now whereas before it looked, er, fucked in grand style - the kind of grand style that you could have sold to the Tate gallery of modern art if (and only if) you could have come up with a brilliant name for it that depicted the utter hopelessness of modern life seen using the medium of a rotten Transit van. Actually, I reckon you've missed a trick there - could have been the next Damien Hurst (or Damien Olbarn - I never could spell)
Tetleysmooth Posted August 25, 2016 Posted August 25, 2016 That's going to look like (as probably weigh as much as) the Tirpitz when it's done. There's only one name that must go on the door when it's finished: Autoshite Recovery - your vehicle transport is our concern. Dave_Q 1
hairymel Posted August 25, 2016 Author Posted August 25, 2016 Glad you fixed the camera too - the thread was beginning to look like a series of stills from John Boorman's 'Excalibur'. first pics are from my trusty fuji cam, which i forgot on the second stint.my life of grease, swarf and grinding dust plays havoc with my phone and the resulting pictures prompted me to get a new (cheap) phone/camera.seems to be ok but keeps changing the exposure - hopefully i will get the hang of it eventually! Actually, I reckon you've missed a trick there - could have been the next Damien Hurst (or Damien Olbarn - I never could spell) i've bought worse , although i was a little crestfallen when i started digging I am already a living display of hopelessness, not sure how i can convert that into money, but i will let you know if i succeed more likely damien thorn That's going to look like (as probably weigh as much as) the Tirpitz when it's done.
