This sucks, well it should do

Minor ftp on the dolomite due to no fuel reaching the carb. I stripped it all down to clear out silt yesterday and now nothing (ran perfectly immediately afterwards). Two options, either silt has blocked the feed pipe, seems unlikely, or the fuel pump has died from yesterday to today, equally unlikely.

Sooooooooo, can anyone help with a couple of questions?

1, how strong should a fuel pump suck? When I put a finger over the inlet and turned the engine over it was barely noticeable.

2, should I have been able to suck fuel up through the pipe? I am guessing yes but could only manage some very bad tasting fumes.

Plan is to blow through the other way tomorrow and see if that helps, I am wondering if it's a combination of blocked pipe and weak pump.
