I like these kind of luxo barges. Fabulous ride and handling and a nice interior, without all the piss and gas of an old Jag or a Merc.

I'm afraid that there is going to be a bit of a delay.

It failed the MOT on one trackrod end (no big deal) and on the play in the adjustable steering column mechanism.

I will have to get the car up on ramps and pull the steering column out to see what the problem is and fix it.

I got the steering column sorted but now I am out of insurance cover to take it back for an MOT.

I think that what I am going to do is to put 28 days temp cover on this, get the MOT sorted and use it for a few a weeks while I do a timing belt and transmission oil change on the Jag.

These really are good looking!

One of the last good Peugeots....?

I really like this and I'll be looking for another comfy auto soon when my Scenic goes so I'm quite tempted

Notice the advisory for rusty rear subframe disappeared between the fail and the pass - how bad is it?

Posted

It was just surface rust on thick metal parts so really not a big deal.

A can of hammerite made the advisory disappear.

The MOT station that I use is quite strict, so it really is good.

So it ain't a fully automatic , would be classed as manual under insurance.

Damn it. Xantia died this morning. Still no money for an ideal car. Will someone buy it so I stop looking at it? Its got a towbar too. ,

It's an automatic.  There are only two pedals.

I have noticed the car around the local area a few times since selling it, which is nice, but now something weird has happened.

It has been parked very near my house (other side of the road and about 50ft up) and hasn't moved for a few days.

On closer inspection it has had a smack on the right rear quarter which has unfortunately creased the curve above the rear arch, so it isn't going to come out that easy, though the car does look usable and I can't see it preventing an MOT.  The rear light cluster is not damaged and there are no sharp edges.

A check on askMID says that it is no longer insured, so I suspect that it is basically abandoned.

It is taxed and MOTed.

It is odd that they left it outside my house.  I had a letter from the DVLA confirming that it's no longer mine and they refunded the road tax.

I also think I have the buyers mobile phone number in my phone if I need it.

Very odd.

Does sound a bit peculiar. Good that you still have buyers number and dvla notification

it's disappeared from the street outside

I quickly checked copart, ebay and gumtree and can't see it.  It's still not insured though.
