Help! ZX alarm problem post-welding - sorted

Recommended Posts

Afternoon! I've just finished welding the ZX's exhaust system back together, reconnected the battery and fired it up. There's a red light flashing under the clock and there's a relay clicking on and off but it's not the indicator relay. Any ideas what it is? It's still on the ramps and the oil level light was flashing when I first turned the key.

Alarm? My red light flashes when the silent alarm goes off. Are the headlamps flashing/indicator telltales going?

Does it still turn on? and if so, does the red light still flash very fast?

The headlights are indeed going on and off, but it still starts. (Why did no one tell me it has an alarm???!!!)

The red light does indead flash even with the engine on.

What's the best way of sorting it out?

Do you have the remote plipper? I have to dig the remains of mine out and get it working when thay happens, which is when I disconnect the battery at any time.

Basically you need to disarm the alarm. Your siren must have been turned off as well

A good lock and unlock with the plipper should sort it, thrn never have the battery off again

Ah.  The plipper is borked, I've never had it working.

I'm beginning to get the feeling I'm in the shit...

Same thing happened to my merc after welding. Eventually the we ( rac and I ) got it running and pulled the connections- I don't have the crucial security disarm key!

I get mine working by taking the pcb out of the case, strip a small bit of wire. Find an AA battery, hold the - side against the pcb contact, then hold the wire onto the other side of the battery and connect it to the + terminal of the pcb with your 3rd hand (i think this rhe right way round, check as you dismantle the casing) . Then hope you point it at the sensor by the rear view mirror first time, thrn don't move as you lock and unlock it...

Sitting inside it helps with this

Went out, pressed the alarm silence button, turned the key and it's stopped.  Phew. Sorry for not replying earlier, I've been changing a brake flexi hose that I clipped with the grinder just after thinking, "I'd better not put a nick in that hose with the grinder.  Awwww, fuuuuckkkk...."

I've never thought of pressing that button, good shout! Not pulling the battery oit to try it though, no idea if it even works!
