My 1997 £280 Gumtree fiesta 1.25 zetechas has decided. Its going to be a bit of a bastard.

Started sweet as a nut when I got it 2 weeks or so ago. Now it just refuses to tick over when flat cold. I've found the hoses under the inlet manifold all cracked and holed and replaced them. New plugs and a general service. Oil filters etc. And 3 egress valves to present.

Had a good hunt for air leaks and found nothing

Code readers finding nothing.

Anyone idea's where to look next before I kick the windows out and roll cage goes in?

Egr? Lamba?

She runs sweet as when warm but cranking it an sitting on the revs at 6am is starting to give me earache from symbo'd and the blowys aren't forthcoming due to tiredness.

All ford's are shit etc

Possibly the CTS, it works off a brass switch at the right hand side of the engine into the head. It's been a few years since I replaced one so. It would be indicative of poor cold start

Coolant temperature sensor, basically measures the temperature of the coolant (also thus the engine) and feeds back the information to the ECU which then in turn adjusts the fuelling so it runs richer when cold - a bit like how an auto choke works. They don't fail as such but go out of spec. You can test it for resistance if you've a multimeter but the switch is only a few pounds. Beware of some coolant spill when you remove, of this age they read the coolant, later they measures the cylinder head temp.
