Spring Alfa Day 2016

It's easy to forget how many truly gorgeous cars they have made over the years. Forget Ferraris, far more beautiful cars above.

Rats and Pox....I forgot this was on.  That's on top of forgetting the Aston Martin day last Sunday.

However, your excellent posts and photos make up for it, so thanks for that.

Also explains the Sprint Speciale I saw on the M3 yesterday coming South as I was heading up to that there London.

Now I can show Mrs Rocker exactly what I was spaffing about for a good 5 minutes after it disappeared down the other carriageway.....

The last Alfa day I went to was Stanford Hall, 1992. I had many Alfas, and I'm sure I had the light metallic green Sud Ti above (A659HLR) 15-20 years ago. Bought it from a couple of hippies in High Wycombe.

Lots of lovely cars there - but where the hell did someone find an N reg Sud Ti?

Never a fan of the 105 Bert-Ones, Spyders or 750/101 cars.

My Alfa collection would have:

Sud Ti Series 1

2600 Sprint

75 3.0

116 Giulietta 1.8 (an early one)

Alfetta GT 1.8

Montreal

Alfa 90

I've had a couple of 2.0 Giuliettas; one was a tatty black ex-Alfa GB car which had been subjected to a poor respray and was written off when I was hit from behind and spun into a ditch. The other was an exceptionally original silver RS that was stolen from my garage. I'd even managed to source a pair of NOS rear wings from AFRA which I ended up selling on to Alex Jupe.

I must confess, though, to having started looking for another…

Truly gorgeous cars, every single one of them. The sound of that Sud brings back some good memories, too.

I would happily own an Alfa but, though I have a workshop, I would always give it to someone else to work on.

I've rebuilt several of the 60's/70's GTV's (1750/2000) and Spider Kammtails and they're built like kit cars. Not in a good way. Synchros are made of cheese.

Good points -> Fantastic engines. Superb suspension, for their time anyway. Beautiful styling.

The mazak handles and other poor quality "chrome work" can go to hell. Mazak is horrible stuff.
