Asimo Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 The pressure inside is quite low: 5psi in a bag 18" diameter will lift half a ton. Ish. Seems like a damn good idea to me, especially for heaving an offroader from the mud, where regular jacks must be huge, heavy and hard to use. Magnificent Rustbucket 1
rml2345 Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Just carry a little Honda 2-stroke generator at all timesYou could plug one of those into a Leaf all the time and not have to worry about range.
The Moog Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 You could plug one of those into a Leaf all the time and not have to worry about range.Perhaps mount it in the front, with a pipe running out of the back to get rid of waste gasses.... Stanky and Magnificent Rustbucket 2
Des Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Perhaps mount it in the front, with a pipe running out of the back to get rid of waste gasses.... I think you have something there, that's the Achilles heel of electric cars addressed. Actually there must be some way of connecting the turning motion of the generator directly to the cars wheels, eliminate all that electric malarkey, perhaps via a housing full of cogwheels to enable control of vehicle speed, that would be so much more efficient. Actually forget I said that, I'll go see if I can patent the notion. Twiggy, The Moog and Rocket88 3
