Anybody who can suggest an even worse car?

My 131 Sport was pretty bulletproof and handled my abuse better than any Dolomight Start I've owned.

was a 131 sport the same as a Supermirafiori though? The latter always got special unreliability annecdotes dreamed up by Mr Clarkson!

*PLONK*

Seems a shame that people on here have such a derisory attitude to posts that simply do not interest them. Don't like it? Tough luck! Don't respond. Its a valid thread and question!

Much worse out there

Seventies Lotuses for instance

Thanks, that's interesting, because the wiring loom is apparently legendary among auto electricians who remember that far back! Meant to be the most complicated, X10, and bar none!

Never found out specifically why though!

Valid? its fucking shit. zero effort, zero information, basically its yet another thread with FUCK ALL actually in it. As to your point, who says 131's are unreliable? they were the preferred taxi in Italy & Spain for at least a decade and they are (or were until recently) almost a 'national car' in Turkey. in this country there are so few left today that theres no way you could say they are reliable or unreliable off a sample size of about 10. So basically its a shit thread containing nothing but a single statement, which itself is bollocks.

I don't think so personally. You:

(a) Don't have to read it

(B) Need not feel any duty to respond; and

© Seem to have no understanding that this is a public forum.

While I would prefer it if you didn't use foul language towards me, I would like to point out that, had you presented the above information in a civil way, it would have been interesting and enjoyable to read.

That one's lost on me, sorry? Can you explain please

Eccentric Richard joined up a few years ago and made statements/asked questions about cars based on other people's alleged experiences of them. Then he would argue against our replies by singing the praises of modern BMWs... based on his dad's alleged experience of driving them.

When it comes to cars, it's all relative, and opinions subjective.

As I said to E R, the Allegro was (at that time) the fastest and most refined car I'd owned, they might be shitheaps to the next person. I'm guessing from your statement about auto-sparks that you haven't had first hand experience of these Fiats so it's a bit of a stretch to wade in with a "was there even anything worse" question.

This forum is for the underdog cars, the unusual and unloved, we don't need threads seeking opinions on the worst car, most of us can probably just head to the garage for that.

Or there is a "stupid questions" thread.

Which doesn't mean I think your question is stupid, I think (I hope, because I've used it this way) that the thread title is ironic.

Might just fit better there? There is a general preference here for content heavy threads rather than opinion polls.

Eccentric Richard was one of the few who actually managed to get banned from here.

Wrote like he was only about 12 and spouted ludicrous opinions about cars he had never even sat in on the grounds that his dad had one driven one before he was born.

Rubbed everyone up the wrong way and got increasingly indignant that his Bullshit was true and that we were all idiots.

Ok thanks, so now I know. TBH, and as I've posted elsewhere, I'm not bothered what other people wish me to post on here. If they aren't interested in my thread, they can move on. I will post as I see fit, it is a public forum.

I had a 1.6 model back in 1993 and it was a decent car. Reliable in my ownership and was fun to drive and felt quite grown up after a series of ropey 2cv's.

That's fair enough, it's just I've found myself starting threads and then coming across another thread much later on where my stuff could have gone; and then it kind of dawned on me about what people meant by cluttering up the forum.

I wish I'd have known about "stupid questions" or news 24 sooner tbh.

Thanks, yeah I'm not getting on at you. I just feel its a bit childish of MR Bollox or whatever he calls himself to send that profanity - laden vitriolic. Doesn't inspire me to play ball, lets put it that way

So what killed it in the end? Rot would be the obvious...........

I can't remember tbh. It could have been but I don't remember it being too rusty. Just as likely to have been mechanical. I didn't go in for too much preventative maintenance at that time. It felt quite a solid car and as I said it was reliable transport, felt pretty quick, something a bit different from the norm and I liked it.

I remember hearing these had very good acceleration, and looked the part - very swish for the time! I'm guessing yours was quite a late survivor / rare when you parted company?

I can think of only one thing when reading this thread and other similar ones! "How to make friends and alienate people" :D

I think everyone needs to take a deep breath here and chill out a little! haha

Isn't a fiat 131 basically a pressing that Lada ruined made better and lighter* over time??? If so they are shit! the bestest car in EVER! :D

*RUST LIKE FUCK!

I think that was the 124? But a lot of Fiat designs made their way behind the iron curtain, yes.
