405 Starting issue help?

One of my 405s did a similar thing once, it never did it again. Self-healing, etc.

Disconnect the battery,wire brush up the terminals,and make sure the clamps are tight and clean. From memory,the clamps are rubbish lead shaped jobbies? Never the best. As a few have already said,too many different/unrelated faults for it not to be an earth problem duuuuuuude

Hmmm. The battery is brand new and the terminals are clean. Terminal Clamps are tight and seem effective.

I know BX diesels often have starter woes due to poor earthing. You usually still here the starter solenoid click in those instances though. An easy way to rule it out is to carry jump leads around. If it refuses to start, whack a lead between engine and negative terminal and see if it then starts. My feeling is that the immobiliser is a more likely fault. Stupid things.

It should have the "French" negative terminal, i.e. the one with the green wing nut.
