got to change the alternator on the misses 21 2.1D Nevada is this done from underneath or the diesel pump gotta come out :?

Hi,

I just checked the Renault Workshop programm. You do not have to take out the pump. They say that you should take it out from underneath without going into much detail- and that was what I did on my Renault 25 Td without much trouble- of course there might be less space on a 21.

You should just get started, even if that is no fun in winter... :)

This is what I did yesterday. I went to France (Moselle Area) to have look at this diesel beauty:

This is where the alternator is on the R25 und r20 engine. Is that the same location on a r21?

500 Euros is OK. But I forgot how soft these seats are. You sink into them up to your bellybutton.... :) At 60tkm this has to be a feature, not a bug. Should I or should I not buy it? :) Stupid question, really: Shite car, shite colour, shite power - I should not ask here!

Is that a Rotodiesel fuel pump?Sorry, I look at all old diesel cars from a veg oil-running perspective.

Hi,I was certain that this is a Bosch pump, but I am not sure now. I also run (At these prices: ran) my Renault 25 on veg oil, so that would be important. Anyway, I would stick in a Turbo engine. I sold my sans-turbo Renault 20 in 1994 and it was soooooooo sloooooooooooooooow. :)Daniel

Bosch pump on these, same as the Espace TD.

Do it! If the steering wheel was on the right side (the left side), I would! 8)

I'm not too sure about the pump either, because later Bosch pumps are a bit more distinctive.

was an arse but got it done, no room really, front panel and rad had to come out first, then belly tray off then lots of hand aerobics to get it undone and out, refitting was the reverse  5hours plus going to get and removing the new one.. not bad suppose...

20TD is a good idea Daniel - looks solid too.

Well done - sounds a pain. If the weather there is anything like here you must have had cold fingers too!

we had a snow spell but lucky didnt settle but still not nice, love the 20 buy it :D cant be any worse than the 21 when it comes to acceleration :Dyes alternator sits underneath the diesel pump :)

Hi,

good to hear that you got the alternator replaced... There must be less space on a 21 because I do not remember taking out the radiator.

The downside of the 20 is that I'd have to invest quite a lot. To be tax exempt it has to be 30 years old and in a good condition. That means it would need a respray :( Added to that: It does look a bit crunchy in places:

This is the a-Pillar and it has got a hole in it :(

I am not sure if R20 / 30 are ever any better :(
