32 Year Old Cortina Or A New Dacia Sandero?

Of modern cars, I reckon a Sandero is more likely to survive 32 years than most due to their relative basicness.

I drove a new Focus yesterday and hated it. It was ok to drive but absolutely rammed with technology that will be obsolete within ten years and just felt like it was designed with a ten year life in mind and you would throw it away afterwards.

Plus, the steering wheel was a horrible squashy affair. Same on the Mondeo. Why they have to have squashy steering wheels is beyond me as they are unpleasant now and you know after five years in the sun and heat (not here obviously) they'll be a right mess.

Everything right here.

But only two things to consider:

If you are really unlucky and get in a crash, head-on for example, your chances to survive are a lot bigger in a Sandero than in a Cortina/Taunus. Fact.

If you have to drive to work all year round, you are better of with a Sandero. Why? Image driving your nicely restored Cortina/Taunus through the salt and slush that is on the streets from October until April. Not a good idea.

So the ideal solution would be: Sandero for the daily commute, Cortina/Taunus for evening-cruises and the weekend.
