She Who Must Be Obeyed is making "I want a modern" noises and a 3 or 4 year old one of these is under consideration:

Anyone driven one, fixed one, broken one or heard good or bad reports?

Mostly would be used on B, C and unclassified roads. Towing not of interest but low range is useful around the garden ;-)

I like that there is a 3 door, a 2.4 litre petrol engine, they are available in red, they can be had without a spare wheel mounted on the back door (Stupid, stupid idea) and are neat and compact compared to Freeloaders and RAV4s of the same age. Proper drivetrain layout too, not 4wd grafted on the back of a hatchback's gearbox.

And I like that I get to spend her money to buy it. (Obviously I would rather spend it on a Niva or an UMM but that ain't going to happen)

Can you still get them with the spare wheel cover of two rhinos shagging?

My neighbour has one that looks like that. Dunno what age it is.

He seems chuffed with it apart from tyre wear which he reckons is heavy (but then so does everyone else who lives around here - shite roads maybe?) and apparently you should replace all 4 at the same time to keep the rolling radius the same between front and rear axle, which suggests its got a viscous coupling like my Freelander.

Buy one of those 10-plate Nivas?

:-D

I don't see that many of these about, but I think the ones without a spare wheel on the back are slightly more common?

Used to know some folks that always bought silver 3-door Vitaras - they now have an SX4.
