forbeslongden Posted March 23, 2015 Posted March 23, 2015 Up for grabs today is my faithful Cherry Red Peugeot 205, this isn't just any old Peugeot 205 though, this is THE very last registered 1124CC petrol model in the UK on August 1st of 1996 putting it on a P-prefix, all other models were the diesel versions. I bought this car in July 2014 and got it shipped down to me from London, to say the car was in a state, mechanically would be an understatement, the car had idle issues, suspension issues, the doors wouldn't open, the radio wasn't there, the rear seats weren't put in, seatbelts missing, bold tyres and all sorts of interior trim missing. I set about saving the car since it's a rare model and the view was to use it to teach my -then- other half to drive, I at least saved the car I got all the issues with it sorted at a great amount of expense and given the price tag, the car still is in my pocket for far, far more. So let's talk a little more about the vehicle, it's a single point injection engine that is used in the Citroen AX and the founding basis to the Saxo / 106 low end engines found in phase one cars, the engine is amazingly quiet and idles as it should, it's had the cambelt and head gasket renewed very, very recently and also the alternator belt this work is all evident when looking in the engine bay. The car has covered 78,000 miles - and the smooth ride really does reflect this. The bodywork is very, very good on this car, I have another P-plate diesel 205 and it's nowhere near as clean as this one, there's no rot in the inner wings and the paint is still a decent shade of Cherry any rust in the bootfloor / back seats has been taken care of. As you can see in the photos, the car is wearing the GTi model trim kit, it really does look like a GTi and the interior is also from a 1.6 GTi model. It's currently say on 1.9 GTi 15" SMR alloys, I would recommend reducing the wheels down to 14 inch though if you plan to have people in the back (base models historically don't cope with 15 inch wheels under rear weight and scrub the valance) In the time I've owned this car, no expense has been spared in getting it road-worthy, it was off the road since 2011 before I bought it and it would ideally make a great first car for someone, not somebody looking to race / break it up - I'd sooner keep it than see it destroyed. Tax on this car is £79 for six months being a 1124 CC engine. The car's registration is P804 HKC and any test drive or check over is welcomed. All electronics work as they should, this includes the heater motor which commonly goes on a 205 The spotlights haven't been wired in Two keys operate all locks Electric windows Central locking (locking only) Low insurance Plenty of MOT left Come, buy and drive away - no 'easy project' shizz V5 present in my name Looking for as close to £1000 as possible on this one, but of course, this is open to discussion. Thanks! KruJoe and RobT 2
