Probably annoyingly boring new tax rules related question - warning includes references to Austin Montego's

On Tuesday I am hopefully, in the evening, going down to Tewkesbury to pick up an Austin Montego. It is the silver one which the seller needs gone PDQ by the sounds of it before next weekend. Tuesday night is the only night in the week both of us are free.

The car is on SORN, He reckons I can tax it online using the New Keeper supplement when I get to his place. If that is the case thats fine and I will insure it on Monday.

Does anyone here know if the new rules will allow this scenario?

I have a feeling that it may need to be done over the counter for this scenario!

Many thanks.

You should be able to.

Yup. New keeper reference is usually the same with a 2 on the front.

Easily done online.

That's good to know.

Thankyou very much for your response.

The last 2 cars I've bought were both SORN when I bought them, I taxed them after purchase and drove them home.

They didn't appear on DVLA site as taxed for a few days though.

I can always print out the receipt just in case I get stopped.

Just claim you did'nt know about the tax, because you couldn't hear the vendor over the drone of the front wheel bearings.

Fine choice. A relation had the much maligned 1.3 years ago, and though I never drove it I was well impressed with the ride and comfort. Wonder if there are any 1.3's still out there.

For it to be truly povo spec it must not have headrests or wheeltrims.

I remember a college lecturer having a 1.3 base model it did have framed head restraints but not much else.

From what I remember it wasn't as slow as you would think, especially compared to the equivalent Sierra.

This one has such luxuries as a Rev Counter!
