Taff Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Of course, the only way to store tools is to use half an inch of instant gasket to affix them to the bottom of your tool box. For metric spanners, use 12.5mm instead Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Formula Autos Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Grip mat from the pound shop works great. It sticks to the tools/drawer/tool box enough that if things are kept level they're where you left them. Plus you can cut it to size with scissors, so minimal faffing about. Draper and the like sell it for a few quid a roll, but smaller rolls from the pound shop are the same stuff and work out much cheaper.
New POD Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 You know that plastic material they use for camping carry mats, well, that's what I would use. One layer for the base, another layer cut to fit the tools, glued together. (I have used it for a 5S'd workshop previously, and also for a "Repair Kitting Box" - where the technician gets a box with all the spares carefully laid out for the job he's about to fix, but he only has to use those he needs. You can see at a glance if Stores failed to find any parts.
robinmasters Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Have you considered using ready-made cookie dough? Spread liberally in each drawer, press in then remove the tools, then bake at 200° for 30 minutes. Don't spill your tea on it though, it goes a bit soft and the tools can then move about and that. Guess how I know, lol jk
Minimad5 Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 Go to your local fabric / craft shop, the mad old bastard behind the counter didn't have a clue when i explained doing such a thing, so instead ushered me to the 'material topped sponge' area. After holding my breath until the smell of talk and piss granny disappeared, i bought some foam and a craft knife (with interchangeable blades) and traced around all tools using French chalk (as this was free and worked better than a half working BIC pen).About 6 hours, and equal amounts of plasters / lacerations later it was done. That didn't help did it ?
