Multiple chod insurance - how do we do it?

I am probably not the only one on here with too many cars.

My regular car is on a policy with igo4 who you should avoid.  If I try to change the car on it, they try and charge me silly money.  But that now has my ncb, about 11 years or something.

I'd like to insure the car I was given recently, a 1994 Astra.  Total autoshite car, 198,000 miles complete shed but runs just fine.  No available NCB.

How?  Classic car policies say it isn't a classic - they may have a point.  I'm prepared to cancel the igo4 policy but an Admiral multicar would cost £500 a year - at least the igo4 was cheap at £140.

If I try temporary insurance, I can get one day for £15 which I reckon is good and I might do it for the Solent Autoshite day but any more gets expensive.

It would be useful to have it insured for a while also as my wife's car has OMGHGF and it might take me two weekends to do it.

Good ideas anyone?

Peter James should cover a 1994 car as a classic. I find being a member of a club can help with quotes, even if it isn't relevant to the car you're insuring.

Footman James also do 1994 cars, I insured my 214 with them after my other insurer refused to add it to my multi-car policy because "it's not a classic"...

Peter James?  Seems to be a different company to Peter Best!

Well thanks - I will give them a try.

Footman James £92.  First sane quote I have had.  We're in business, well will be soon.

Big thanks!

Footman James were cheap, helpful etc and I was well impressed. Until I sold the car and wanted some of the 9 months premium outstanding back that is, car insurance stopped 27 Oct, still waiting for my refund Jan 9... They will only refund with a cheque which can only written at the Leeds branch, they've got a backlog etc etc. If I was a cynic I might suspect they are sitting on monies owed until the last possible second to squeeze the interest from it.....

Can you please ask them what account pays them this interest? I'd love to know.

Why else does it take them months to send a cheque to return funds that were paid electronically? Perhaps just incompetence.
