Compresed Shite

So I recently took ownership of a machine mart compressor which is handy for random odd tasks. Air duster is great on a smokey bonfire that needs a little encouragement.

I don't know how old the thing is and I was wondering if the cylinders have a life expectancy?

They do have a finite life.

I believe one of the things to look for is cast iron cylinders as they last longer.

Have had my Clarke one for about 13 years, aside from occasional checking of the oil and regular draining of receiver tank water, it's been no problem at all, wouldn't be without one.

BTW - never thought about using them on bonfires, good idea.

I've still got my clarke hunter bought in 1989. As said keep em drained, keep the filter clean and change the oil occasionally and that's it. Great compressor and done many a respray with it.

Good on a smokey bbq too, just becareful of flow of air, its all too easy to eject the coals!

One thing I would like to change on the compressor, I would prefer a blead valve like those on an HGV air tank, so allowing the air pressure in the tank to eject the water.
