It was ever thus.

On Autoshite in the 60's people were asking why would you pay an extra £17.6s 3d for a Riley Elf when an Austin or Morris does the same job. And as for those style over substance wankers wasting £40 over the price of an Austin 1100 to have a Triumph 1300 just for the badge and so called status.

In fact my 30 bob Ford 10 will probably still be going long after these technological marvels* has been scrapped and who needs to go anywhere at more than 35 mph anyway? Flash gits,I blame the welfare state and the fucking Beatles.

There's a number of style-over-substance cars I really like.  I can't justify the asking price of any of them.
