My 416 wasn't particularly revvy at all. Was that just because I was used to the frenetic madness of the Sirion? It was also hideously crap on fuel for a 1.6. 32mpg was just utter tosh. I did wonder whether the cat might be clogged on it though. Motoring reviews talked about it being revvy. Mind you, perhaps it was compared to a 1.6 Escort.

Mine was doing a shade over 3000rpm at 60, so perhaps they are best in manual flavour. Joe's drove well when I had a go on the Shitefest 2015 test track, very willing and he encouraged me to nail it which I did (not quite to the same extent he did the Cavalier though...!).

I wouldn't describe my sohc Ronda manual as particularly revvy. It will happily rev, but doing so doesn't reward the driver. In fact it's torquey enough to maintain brisk cross-country progress lower down the range. I don't think mine has been over 4500 or 5000rmp since I've had it.

It's great around the houses, but motorways feel frantic - 60mph = 3000rpm in fifth. For highway cruising, the Cav 2.0 CDi is a much better bet. :) Remind me, who has that now Rob?

Not sure Joe. A lad on here bought it but not heard anything since. I need to get another as they do everything I want from a car, but then so does the 220. The only thing I don't like about the 220 is the clutch, a long springy travel which can make driving it smoothly at low speeds a bit of an art.

Ah yes. The Rover's clutch really hurt my (admittedly dodgy) foot. Not heavy, but very long travel. 'Bubble' 400s are the same.
