Theoretical question. Small 1.8 MG orientated car (not F), misfire when cold, ok when warm. Mechanic says needs new plugs. Is he a big fat baldy liar or could it be something else....... form an orderly queue with suitable answers purleeees.

It's a ZR. Could well be. Any other possibilities, just for the sheer hell of it?

Even better possibility. Like it, like it.

The cam seals on these are handed for rotation. If a front has found it's way onto the rear, the sipes on the lip are going to direct any oil outwards..... and into the distributor cap. Unless it has a pair of coils, each operating two plugs. Freeloaders have this arrangement, and temperature related misfires are not uncommon.

Cheers guys, not sounding too bad then re: possibilities.

Thanks

My 214 did that, dizzy cap and rotor were good and so were the plugs. Replacing the 20 year old HT leads fixed the problem.
