Unadventurous, un-epic, quite boring collection thread.

So, the above Rover OMFGHGF 25 has been sold. But what to replace it with on a minimal budget of peanuts. Scouring literally some pages of eVilbay, Scumtree and the Farcebook mong for sale pages, I happened upon many cars, all of them shocking. Test drove a Daishitsu YRV and the exhaust damn near fell off. That and the seller was a bit of a knob. Looked at other stuff and found most of it was tarted up to look nice, and the Punto I test drove took the biscuit. Wheels and tyres too big they were rubbing on the inner wheel arch liners, a rust hole that was due to a bad repair job covered up badly.

So pissed off was I, I went on Farcebook to rant about it and instead saw this on my feed:

Went to view it straight away, brand new MoT, cosmetically scabby but solid and mechanically sweet. Looked around it, knocked him down a ton on price as tyres needed attention. Gave the guy a deposit and thought bollocks as I got into my own red Accent.

So, as this Accent was much, much further away than the half a mile I travelled to get the other Accent (a whole two miles), Domestic Management and the boy came to collect me from work at exactly 17.11 and took me to Morrisons Zombie Cafe. This gave me chance to prepare myself for the long journey ahead.

We got to the journey's end a staggering 12 minutes later (I know!) We met the charming family once again, handed over the wonga and set out for the long, stressful two miles home. Ish.

Not before pulling over, realising Domestic Management still had my wallet, she was in the other Accent and I never read the fuel guage before setting off. Made it to the petrol station, just.

Obligatory fuel station photo. My other Accent is behind and in sympathy, it decided it needed fuel too.

And so, got the car home.

It's got 79k on the clock, full MoT, new clutch, tax and drives well. Or as well as one of these can. It's a bit rough around the edges but it's not a bad little motor at all. Makes my drive way look like a Slough taxi rank.

Can't really go wrong with these if reliable motoring is the order of the day, there has been a white W registered one for sale near me at 395 for ages now with no signs of interest, would be a great reliable runner for someone.

We seem to be starting a trend away from the 4 hour, will-it-work-or-won't-it train jobbies and collecting chod within walking distance. Convenient, but I doubt it'll pull in the punters like the 300 mile show stoppers. :)

Decent looking wee cars these Accents, from when Hyundai were starting to be taken seriously here.

Very true, those 300 odd despair-filled mile collection threads are one the highlights on the board for me. I'm just too lazy to travel for a car :-)

To be fair, these Accents are unremarkable yet likeable little cars. Really like them.
