Dans Mk2 Transit thread. New carb.

When I had both MK1 Sierras here, I infinitely preferred the Weber carb'd 1.6 Pinto to the VV on the 1.6 Base. It was like night and day jumping from 1 to the other.

Then Alf892 sorted the timing on the bASe when we did the timing belt, and it's as good.

The VVs are much derided, but Alf was also a fan. As long as the autochoke works, I'm a happy boy!

Collected this today, all sorted and legal for another year.

Emissions were an easy fix on the gas tester and the washer pump had to be replaced. Only £8.95 for the new one but it's non gen. The Ford original did ok really for 33 years service!

It flies along now the carbs been set properly too, it was good before but it's silk smooth now it's not running too rich. Funny, I blagged a lift to the garage off my mum. On the way home she followed me back and said she was struggling to keep up at times! Pinto power!

Note to self: over the next year do more miles. This year I did a pathetic 70 miles in the Transit! Not good.

In my defence I've been busy with other things but still.
