These seem to have gone from the face of the earth, just like the probe.

 

I always thought they were a good looker, but horrific fuel consumption and iffy build seem to have seen them off.

 

Any shitter had one of these?

I've had one.

 

For a 4 litre V6, I didn't find petrol useage too bad.

 

The one thing you have to watch-or rather listen for, is death rattle on start up.

Friend of mine had the Maverick, seemed like a decent car. Not sure how it compared to the Explorer though.

would a Ranger diesel engine drop in easily?

Probably. but that won't do much better than 25 mpg.

There's plenty of them left in the southern US also a few in Australia last time I was there.

 

Weren't these the ones labelled the exploder and resulted in ford suing firestone as the tyres were faulty?
