Why are a so many of the cars rhd when they seem to come from lhd countries?

 

Partly so that the driver could get in and out from the kerb side.

Finland changed from driving on the left to the right in 1858, Canada used to do both. When driving between countries where they drive on opposite sides, there may be something like this, as between Macau and China -

There are some places where cars have the steering wheel on the same side as the side of the road driven on - Afghanistan, Burma and the far East of Russia. In this part of Russia it's the easy access to cheap second hand Japanese chod which makes this the case.

Lots of Italian stuff was RHD so they could hoon down the Alpine passes with better round-the-corner vision...
