Sealant question

OK, I've been playing around with the Spacy this evening and it appears that the oil leak is coming from the join between two crankcase sections.  This will realistically be an engine out job to repair properly, which I really can't be arsed with at the moment.

Is there any way of stopping such an oil leak without dismantlage being necessary?  I'm guessing that just running a bead of Hylomar along the outside of the join probably won't work for long, but is there another product that might?  Or is there some kind of K-seal equivalent for oil?  I suppose draining the oil and replacing it with 20W50 might alleviate the symptoms a bit, but I'd prefer something a bit more scientific than that if possible...

Araldite?

After a 'mate' crashed my bandit we found that the now shattered alternator cover had been araldited together before so we repeated the bodge and it was fine.

I believe the stuff you use to patch petrol tanks, if it still exists, would do the job- as long as you can keep the area clear of oil while it cures.

Sounds like a plan.  I'll see if I can find some of that petro patch stuff tomorrow - I did buy a tube years ago which I don't think I ever used, but Lord only knows where that is now.  If I can't find any of that I'll try gun gum.  Not sure araldite would work without splitting the crankcase - it's good for holding shiz together, but not so great as a sealant.  Should be able to keep the join oil free by laying the bike on its side so all the oil is in one half of the crankcase.

You lost me with that bit. Could you please elaborate?
